Forecast Verification: January 7, 2026 5-Day Snowfall

OpenSnow prides itself on providing credible and accurate mountain weather forecasts, while also being transparent about our mistakes.

We looked back at the 5-day snow forecast from January 7, 2026, to compare against how much snow fell through January 11, 2026, at popular ski resorts with reliable snow reporting data in Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico.

The result? We under-forecasted by 19% against the total snowfall.
